Oh my, this couldn't have come at a better time. The Lord knew I needed to read this. Oh, how my heart has been wrestling so much, and the Lord brought clarity from your writing. I think sometimes the temptation is, well, I come from a broken family, so my unsurrendered will thinks that I have the right to hold on to bitterness, anger, and frustration. But the Lord is teaching me to honor what is good and build in the direction He wants me to head. I believe this wrestling has been one of my biggest stumbling blocks, the thing the enemy uses to taunt me and keep me stuck. This writing to your daughters is another strike against the devil's plans, but honor that of the Lord's. Thank you!
“So if motherhood is your calling, don’t view it as an isolated or temporary identity. View it as part of the future itself.”
These words resonated so deeply with me, as I experienced siblings pulling away from family roots and struggled for years to understand why. Because to me, the importance of maintaining the continuity between our parents/grandparents (as well as previous generations) and the children we are raising is something I don’t ever want to lose! This is such a profound encouragement for those of us preparing to take on that role and mission, but even for those well versed in the journey of motherhood. It makes me cry out to God for strength and wisdom to become the mother who will instill this enduring faith into the lives of my children. Thank you so much for sharing these guideposts that help us to understand more fully the weightiness of such a responsibility.
Amanda - I love your writings and just bought your book and it’s beautiful I am enjoying it. This post I forwarded to my daughter - we speak of the important of generational ties so often but the canceling has become an issue too. There is a strong difference in generational viewpoints I am learning. Raised as a late stage baby boomer is different than being raised in the 90’s quite significantly. This is hard - I would appreciate any of your thoughts on this. Thank you.
Thank you so much for sharing! Yes, each generation has a different viewpoint and faces different challenges. The most important thing is to maintain love and the perspective that we are all on a journey, and no generation will arrive alone, apart from the others.
Thank you, Sister Amanda.
